Delightfully creepy, this piece is really difficult to listen to without squirming a bit. I blame the violins... as we all should. Perfect for any scene where something just ain't right! You can download the full uncompressed version of this piece here. Comes with individual parts so you can make your own subtle creepy mixes!
Ok, I might be crying a little bit. But it is understandable... I went to a party store, and I saw all the colorful balloons with happy sayings on them like "Get Well" and "Feel Better" and "A Hug for You"... I just started thinking how the helium will all be gone one day. Just gone... we won't get it back, and it took millions of years of radioactive decay to get the helium we have now... and... *sniff* we just don't have millions more years to wait for more. They're wasting helium in balloons... how can I possibly "Feel Better"!?
Heavy bass drums and an string bass set the tone for this dark and menacing tone. The familiar refrain then plays, but is made expressive and almost violent as it is played on several string basses and cellos. The pace is rather quick and forceful, and after the quick ending, a jack-in-the-box plays, normally child-like, but made creepy because of the sinister music that came before.
Open and airy. A classic "touching moment" style. Performance imperfections are exaggerated to give a more "choked up" feel.
Solid in pace, The Thatched Roof Villagers moves with percussion and a number of flutes and pipes struggling for dominance. The real joy of the piece is halfway through when the tinny dulcimer plays the melody and is then joined by the flutes in melody and harmony. The music is jovial and inviting. Loopable.
How can you tell if a piece of music is intended to be comedic? Pizzicato strings and a bass clarinet! This piece has it all! Pizzicato strings? Check! Bass clarinet? You bet! Throw in some staccato high winds and you got yourself a great comedic piece! Going out on a date and want to appear more entertaining? Bring a bass clarinet! Bass clarinet players I think also get discounts at T.G.I.Fridays; Double bonus!
Flautando (flute-tone) violins provide a bed for this slow-moving piece. Uncompressed aif files are available for purchase. They include all of the individual parts so you can do your own mixes. Get them here!
You want contemplative!? You GOT contemplative! You can download this in uncompressed format here! Download comes with individual tracks so you can make your own mixes, and some bonus percussion.
This piece starts BIG. Originally, this piece started slowly and built... and then I got bored and chopped out all the slowness. There are still dynamics, but if you need bigness from the get-go - here's what you get! Vroom! BIG BIG BIG! Could be too big. Could be. Probably isn't. You can download this in uncompressed format here. Download comes with individual tracks so you can make your own mixes.
Mechanistic, electronic and organic. This piece gets very big around 1:46. (The preview is more 'boomy' than the download.) This piece is available in AIFF format for purchase here. The purchase includes isolated tracks to make your own mix, and are available in three tempos.
You never notice how effective a car horn is until you use it. I usually park my car near a sidewalk and alarm 7 year olds on their way to and from school. 7 year olds are your target market for this sort of thing. They jump like antelope! All the kids in my neighborhood are acclimatized, now. It isn't as much fun. You also never notice how effective a Picardy third is until you do it with car horns. You're welcome.
Epic myth. Part of the hero's journey. Starts with a solo soprano, and later mixes a full choir. Ends assuming you'll mix it into another piece.
Heavy effects on an arhythmic piano, and very deep bass.
Happy bouncy theme for a comic hero! Written for Craig Knitt's short "Happy Boy". This track has themes in 2 variations in 2 tempos.
I love sipping lemonade by the lake when a storm approaches. I love walking through apple orchards in the fall. I love the squeak of minivan tires being dragged onto the flatbed truck of the repo man. Memories of simpler times... so wonderful.
